About Miss Marla Cobb

My name is Marla Cobb.  The 2021-2022 school year is my 28th at Barhitte and I am hoping it will be the best yet!  When I first came I was hired as the part time Preschool Teacher.  Within one month I was hired full time and became Barhitte's first Music Teacher.  Since then I have taught First Grade, Junior First Grade, Early Fives, and Kindergarten (both full and 1/2 day).  I always wanted to be a Kindergarten Teacher and I have been able to be one of Barhitte's Kindergarten Teachers for 21 years!

I received my B.A in Elementary Education with minors in Music and Social Studies from Spring Arbor University (near Jackson, MI).  I also earned my Z.A. (Early Childhood Endorsement) at that time.  A few years later, I earned my Masters Degree in Reading and Language Arts from Oakland University in Rochester, MI.  In addition, I have completed 33 Graduate Credits, taking a variety of classes from Marygrove College that I can apply with my students.

My favorite thing to do is spend time with my nieces and nephews...I have 14!  They like to try out the new activities and games that I make for my classroom, read books with me, and are so much fun!  I also like to stamp my own cards.  I collect old fashioned looking Raggedy Ann and Andy's and my favorite season is fall.  My favorite fruits are blueberries and Ranier cherries.  I have a cat that I adopted 11 years ago from the Humane Society.  She is quite a character and likes to play in water which is very weird for a cat she also likes to play in the middle of the night.  Her name is Tipsy Toodle
